Vera Cruz Carved Stone Old God Hacha, Mexico. Ca. 600 to 900 AD. A gray volcanic stone depicting a stylized zoomorphic head with large central crest and round, recessed eyes and beak-like nose extending over his open mouth to the tip of his tongue. Sunken cheeks with high cheek bones central head ridge crest with rear tabs. Some remaining traces of red-pink surface pigment and overall light surface encrustation, good ancient patina. Size: 7-3/4 inches H. x 5-1/8 inches. 
Sold with custom metal base. A nice example.
