Rare Mayan Carved Bone Pot
Extremely RARE Mayan carved bone pot with glyphs.
Period: Ca. 500 - 800 A.D.
Size: 3"H. x 1-1/2"D.
Small carved bone avian form pot, possibly a colero or pigment pot, having a projecting bird head with a very long pointed beak, relief carved body around the cylinder with feather details. Two drilled perforations in the upper rim. Excellent deep tan ancient surface patina. Missing a v-shape piece from the top rear vessel and with surface erosion to his head, tip of beak reattached. A rare example.
