Rare Large Maya Stucco Head
This piece would have been part of a life size figure on the outside of a pyramid at one time.
Late Classic, 600-900 AD A portrait of a Maya ruler or noble modeled from lime stucco with remains of red pigments. Classic Maya facial features including bulging eyes with drilled pupils, large nose with its ridge continuing up into the forehead, Mounted to a museum quality wood base. This piece has some repairs with the cracks filled in but has not been re painted. All of the paint is original.
